Arrest Warrant- How can I avoid getting an Arrest Warrant?

How to avoid getting an Arrest Warrant

If you already have an existing Arrest Warrant, you should definitely not ignore it, but there are methods to avoid getting new ones. If you’re positive that you already have an arrest warrant, then you have to take the appropriate steps to deal with it. However, there are plenty of things you can do to avoid getting an arrest warrant if it hasn’t yet occurred.

Bench Warrants- The price For Ignoring The Court
The court can issue a bench warrant if you do something wrong during or after your court case. The best way to avoid a Bench Warrant is to follow the court instructions perfectly. Obviously the best thing to do is to make sure you attend court when you are told, dressed in a respectful manner is the first step. Showing up 10 minutes late to your court date with your stained and ripped jeans and anarchy t-shirt is not going to do your case much good.

If for some reason you’re unable to attend the court date and time issued to you, it’s very important that you notify the court of your absence as soon as possible so that they reschedule. More bench warrants are issued due to excuses like “I forgot the date” or “I couldn’t find the piece of paper with the time”. Judges want you to respect their time, if you don’t respect them it’s a quick means of getting an Arrest Warrant for no good reason.

If you do not pay your fine, or you’re not following through on your community service requirements the court can issue a bench warrant. Hopefully it’s not necessary to remind you that the easiest way to avoid a warrant and further worse consequences is to pay the fine and do the time.

Avoiding Arrest Warrants

We don’t recommend that you avoid Arrest Warrants. There are very few reasons to avoid an arrest warrant as the penalties can be more severe if you continue to avoid it. By obeying the law you can avoid most arrest warrants. In the event that you do get one, you should immediately consult an attorney.
